Makers & Creators Latest News
All my New Years resolutions have now been forgotten and cast aside, so with a biscuit in one hand I decided to start something new instead...I now have a blog which I will keep updated with the latest news and pictures. So instead of this feed, I will be updating my blog instead....but dont worry, my website will stay up to date and the gallery filled with lots of pictures! Remember you can also 'like' my Facebook page or follow me on Twitter!! Click here to get to my blog and read what I have been up to!
Luckily the Echo Chic book series went really well and I was asked to write and produce craft projects for another book series to be published in August. I am currently working on books aimed at KS1 & 2 called 'Fun with...' and will make craft projects that involve paper, paint, fabric and nature. Until that is up and running, I have some pictures of the last Eco Chic project below...

As the dark nights drew in I ran another Lantern Making Workshop for the children of Arundel. The lanterns were made for the 'Arundel by Candelight' procession and looked great amongst the willow lanterns that a group made the wek before.
St James Primary School in Weybridge, Surrey invited me to their creativity week to run a series of workshops to introduce their year 1 & 2 classes to wax batiking to create 22 flags that represent the schools values. Each month a new value will be on display on their new flagpole situated in their car park! You can see pictures in the gallery...
I was asked by the 4 Sight to run some monthly art and craft workshops. 4 Sight are a registered charity that support blind and partically sighted people in West Sussex. All workshops are specially adapted to suit the group...it has been a steep learning curve, but I have loved every one!

WOW! The summer has been sooo busy - Lemon & Lime rehersals and the big performance of Romeo & Juliet, a spot of art directing and also busying myself with LOTS of making for a new series of craft books written by Susannah Blake. They will be published in April 2012, so keep your eyes peeled for them! In the meantime I will update the gallery with a few pictures of the crafts you will be able to make in the book! Happy reading :)
Aside from the run up to the Shout Out Carnival for 'Sparks In The Park' in Horsham Park (24th July 2011), I have been working hard with the other Lemon & Lime girls to produce our summer events!
Find us at Dromos (pop up festival) at The Hawth, Crawley on Saturday 9th July running a Greek Mythology workshop, then to meet Lord and Lady Loud-Hailer at the Shout Out Carnival, and finally to watch a our version of Romeo & Juliet; a fully interactive and free performance for the whole family to enjoy!
We hope to see you this summer to join us at our theatre workshops where we love to meet budding actors, designers, dancers and backstage crew!

The Snow Queen was the big event for June, and as you can see from the gallery the 'Theatre Craft' team were hugely creative and amazing! The show was a massive success and this was largely down to the hugely talented girls of Millais School...
June also meant another frollic in the Shangri-La field at Glastonbury Festival with the other members of the art department. It was a slow start with the persistant rain hampering our efforts, but we opened on time (just about) and all the punters seemed to enjoy the impending apocalyptic scenes and bad-land avenues!

I blinked and I missed most of May! I have spent most of my days in rehearsals for The Snow Queen, making set peices, backgrounds and props with the Millais girls who belong to Theatre Craft props club.
I have also started carnival flag making workshops for Horsham's 'Shout Out' carnival. We are making themed flags using the batiking technique...if you are interested in making some flags to 'Shout About' something you feel passionate about, then you can contact the community development department at Horsham District Council. Carnival is on Sunday 24th July 2001
In May I also ran a 4 week screen printing workshops for the Together In Mind group to help promote awareness for mental health. Everyone who joined in produced amazing artworks - you can see the members of the group sporting their t.shirts and canvas bags at Horsham Carnival.
June is just about upon us, which means it is officially festival season - as always I will be heading to the Shangri-La field at Galstonbury festival. I can't wait to get stuck in; painting, making and generally getting messy with the art department!
But before I head off to a field in the middle of nowhere I will be at QEII running an art class for their holiday activity day. Busy summer = Happy Annalees!
The Easter holidays are upon us and there is plenty of fun stuff to keep you entertained throughout this extra long break!!
QEII are hosting two more HDC run activity days after the success of the February event. I will be there 10am-3pm on Wednesday 13th & 20th April with loads of fun art activites to make. From Easter cards, to mask making, there will be plenty to get stuck into! There will also be other activites to try, so join us!
I have also been working hard with Millais School, Horsham with their production of The Snow Queen, which is showing at The Capitol, Horsham in June. Along with the members of Theatre Craft after school club I have been busy cutting, sticking, designing and making the many set peices and props for the production! It looks to be a great show, so book your tickets now from The Capitol website!
Lastly, please keep an eye out in all DC Leisure complexes for adverts about Discovery Day on 2nd May 2011. It will be held at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre and I will be running a screen printing workshop from 12-2pm, giving you a chance to print your own greetings card! Keep checking twitter and facebook for more details!
Happy Easter x
2011 has been very busy so far and it looks like it is going to continue :)
At 8.30pm on 26th March 2011 light will be switched off all around the world for Earth Hour! In preparation for this massive event I will be running a lantern making workshop in partnership with Horsham District Council. Come to the bandstand in The Carfax, Horsham 10-4pm and make your own lantern from recycled materials! Bring your own glass jar or use one of ours to decorate! This is free for anyone who wants to join in - so hope to see you all there!!
I also wanted to announce the creation of Lemon and Lime theatre! I have joined forces with three theatre practitioners to offer holiday workshops for local young people aged 11-16. Lemon and Lime theatre offers participants that chance to learn onstage skills alongside backstage skills, so whether you are a budding actor craving the limelight or a creative individual interested in designing sets and making props or any of the other behind the scenes roles, we really have something for everyone!

The sun was shining over the carnival on Sunday!! It was a fantastic day, and I was especially busy in the 'Flag Making' tent making silk carnival flags which were then paraded in the procession around Horsham Park. They looked amazing....and so did the twenty 'West Sussex' costumes that were wore alongside the 75 costumes from the Kinetika Spectacle Collection (www.kinetika.co.uk) which represent Spain, New Zealand, Mexico, South Korea and Argentina. You can read more about the day at here.
Also... you may have seen a small green dragon by the name of 'Ringo' wandering around the Carnival! I was asked by Horsham District Council to create the Horsham District's new 2012 mascot in puppet form for 2012 London Games. I will soon put up pictures of Ringo, but in the mean time you can read more here.
Horsham 'One World' Carnival will be held on 25th July 2010 in Horsham Park. I have been lucky enough to work alongside other local artists to create twenty new costumes inspired by the Blue Touch Paper Carnival (www.btpcarnival.co.uk). The new costumes follow the theme of different places and depict and celebrate the landscape of West Sussex, along with visually representing the ethos of the Blue Touch Paper Carnival, namely inclusion, freedom and happiness. They will be worn by Strawford Day Centre who play an active and full role in the Blue Touch Paper Carnival.
